Having trained as an electrical engineer Gary moved to positions as Computer Operations and Quality Assurance Manager, Regional Safety Manager, Principal Security Adviser, Head of Security, senior management, and director before founding and managing his own companies.
In the private sector he set up his own company in 2000, won tenders to operate Postwatch (Consumer Council for Postal Services) in the South and West, and since acquired, set-up and run several other companies whilst gaining and maintaining senior positions in the NHS, on the Dorset Police Authority, in the Scouting Movement, and various charitable and voluntary organisations.
Having originally trained as a dive medic in the early 1980’s, he went on to become a qualified emergency medical technician working in medical repatriation, events, critical care transfers and a First Aid, Fire Safety and Health & Safety trainer, assessor, and consultant. Gary is also an RYA First Aid Instructor.
His commercial experience, voluntary work and 10 years on the Post Office Users National Council, 10 years experience on Dorset Police Authority, 7 years as Regional Director of Postwatch and NHS Senior level experience has brought him into direct contact with many senior business leaders, members of the royal family, government ministers, MPs, members of the house of lords and senior civil servants.
Gary is a very experienced communicator and is confident in public speaking, facilitating training and chairing meetings. He has significant experience of media relations having taken part in hundreds of newspaper, radio and TV interviews for organisations he has been involved in. Gary has featured live on BBC 6 O’Clock News, The BBC Politics Show, ITV Lunchtime News and many regional TV news and network documentary programmes such BBC Watchdog and Channel 4 Dispatches.
Today as well as running Sirius Business Services Ltd, Sirius Property Services Ltd and First Aid and Safety, he enjoys leading and participating in many charitable and voluntary organisations and serving as Churchwarden at his local church All Saints Church Wyke Regis. Gary also enjoys spending time with his family and two German Shepherd Dogs as well as supporting his son who is an aspiring para sportsman in Sailing and Table Tennis.
